dear darkness: a letter

A poem:

Dear darkness,

You were there when i was haunted by the demons of your depths
You, their mother lent me your lap to spill my fearful tears only to bundle me up and throw me to your children
and caress the marks they left in my soul when they fed on my fears
The lifeless witness to the horrors I've been through, you loved me for just being me.
Even though your love is a little twisted,
you still embraced my scars and let the
monster inside me grow
You saw past the mask i embellished with fake crystals of purity, you taught me that there's no wrong in being a little scary.
You sheltered me in your palms
You gave me a home when i was lost
For a girl too afraid of the sun for the light would burn her alive,
You took me under your arms and sheilded me away from the light.
Slowly you shaped me into this soulless creature i am.
Thank you for showing me how to love this dark side of you and myself.

From
The girl who lost her soul
