a little red balloon: a poem
A poem
On the corner of the page where i drew a vast empty sky
Some cotton candy clouds that float among the shades of grey and white
Chipped paint strokes of a lifeless rainbow
Imprints of a fading moon
Shadows of an extinguished sun
dawns filled with dust
Sunsets of bleached smoke
Ghosts of birds in flight caught in a fleeting moment
My shaking hands try to paint the sky blue
With tears that have long since turned colourless
Leaden brush strokes a story of broken dreams
On a pallid blank canvas
A heart that strives to write
a poem with colours rather than words,
That captures merry images than painful emotions
Desperate eyes yearn for hope,
Freedom from an unkept promise
a splash of colour in the vast sea of emptiness
Moons filled with light
Dusks the shade of rose blossoms
Suns made of liquid gold
Rainbows full of spirit
Birds that can truly fly
All I want is a sky that is no longer bleak
And a heart that no longer hurts
So paint me a little red balloon
Even when i couldn't turn my sky blue
It'll forever remind me of you
Of hope and lost balloons
